Children’s and Young People’s Service

“Mum and Dad are splitting up, all they did was argue and fight all the time.  They didn’t seem to notice me or how I was feeling.  No-one had any time to listen to me.”

This is just one of the problems young people say.  Parents can cause all sorts of problems and not realise the effect on children and young people.  It might be you have lost a parent through separation or even death or become part of a new family.

You may have witnessed Domestic Violence, been abused or raped.  You may have drug or alcohol problems or even problems at school with bullying or just the pressure to achieve.

How can we help?

Whatever the problem you face we have counsellors specially trained to help you work through them.  Someone to talk to who will listen, to be there for you but not involved in the way family and friends are, someone available either at school or in one of our offices, someone you can see on your own in a quiet place without being overheard.  We offer counselling for children and young people up to the age of 18.  We also offer family counselling.

Our counsellors are friendly, helpful and experienced in a wide range of difficult situations people face with their personal and family relationships.  We can offer the support you need to work through your feelings, to make sense of what is happening and to accept what the future may bring.

How to contact us?

Just ring on 01522 524922 and ask to see a Young People’s counsellor, or email enquiries@relate–lincs.co.uk.  Appointments are available in the both in and out of school time and on Saturday mornings.

Meetings with your counsellor last 30 to 60 minutes in a quiet, private room and no-one will hear what you say.  Anything you tell your counsellor is kept in the strictest confidence unless someone’s safety is at risk.

Under 16's

You can come and see a counsellor on your own for the first appointment if you want to, but then if you want to come for regular counselling an adult who is legally responsible for you will need to know you are coming to see us.  The adult should come with you but will not go into counselling with you unless you want them to.  They will also need to be there to collect you at the end of your session to make sure you get home safely.  If your parent or Guardian decides this is not necessary then your counsellor must be told.

If you have to miss a meeting at any time, do please let us know. You can ring and leave a message at the office.
